If there is a ever a title for "Biggest Bad Ass of the Century", I feel like Adrian Carton de Wiart would qualify.
After all, how many people do you know of that fought in multiple 20th century conflicts despite losing an eye, a hand; getting shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; surviving a plane crash (twice!); tore off his own fingers when a doctor refused to amputate them; dug himself out of a POW camp; and described his WWI expierence as: "Frankly I had enjoyed the war."
