BOTANOPHOBIA

Botanophobia is the fear of plants. There are various reasons for this phobia, but the most common factors are allergies to pollen or past experiences with plants that are poisonous or cause painful reactions, such as poison ivy, rose thorns, stinging nettles, or cacti. Sufferers often fear specific types of plants rather than all plants, and many choose to live in highly urbanized areas with very little plant life. In extreme cases, people with this phobia may prefer not to leave their homes in order to avoid encountering plants. Botanophobia is closely related to anthophobia, the fear of flowers, as well as melissophobia, the fear of bees, and spheksophobia, the fear of wasps, which frequently gather around flowering plants.
