Arguments For Auction Ads in Raffles

Some good arguments I found while scrolling along scrap.tf:

Flying Purple People-Eater

I understand your right to disallow these but can I please hear a true negative for having ads or raffles? In my eyes, I see it as a way to both give items to people, AND have an opportunity to make some money. Obviously people benefit from it, but no one is obligated to click an auction link or bid. I think with all the auctions up, it's kinda difficult to get people to look at yours in particular. Would appreciate a reply, thanks!

If you are looking to make profit and are only 'self-interested', you would not be giving away items in the first place. These rafflers are not forcing you to bid, or even look at their auction. They are still being generous while at the same time, giving you an option to check out an item that they are selling, which may be of interest to you.

My own arguments:

Argument 1:
So far, I've heard arguments saying that raffles shouldn't be about self interest. While that sounds great, you need to stop and think for a moment why people make raffles in the first place. They should remove raffle messeges next if this is the direction they want to go, as the messeges are a form of self interest, you made a messege which you gave out items so many people can read and see it. Of course there's always those who don't post messeges, but it's a very small fraction compared to the amount who do.

Make this a donation service, not a raffle site if you want no self advertisement. Have people sign up to have random donations given to them from random people. That'll be devoid of self interest entirely, and it'll still be giving away items.

Argument 2:
People also claim this is a long overdue change as trade and puzzle raffles aren't allowed as ads either (why tho).

There's a very clear falacy in this argument, however. Youtube music/video ads are allowed. This is a very easy way to get a large sum of people to look at stuff you likein order to grow it or get it more popular. Of course, you can't post your own content - however you can advertise other people's content? How is that a fair way to get other people views and comments? How could anyone tell if you made it or not?

I hope you have an opinion in my debate, please vote in the poll if you wish :)
