So, I watched The Handmaiden
[MAJOR spoilers ahoy!]
Well, wasn't this a rollercoaster? I'll try to explain the story without getting myself yeeted from the site: in essence, it takes place in Japanese-occupied Korea, where we're introduced to one of the MCs, Nam Sook-hee, the adopted daughter of a family of counterfeiters and pickpockets who, together with a conman, plan their next big hit: the duo plan to embezzle Izumi Hideko, a rich Japanese heiress, by making her fall in love with the conman, who pretends to be a nobleman named "Count Fujiwara", while Nam, acting as her servant, basically grooms her into falling in love with him. But, uh, small catch: Nam falls in love with Izumi, and Izumi falls in love with Nam. Over the course of the story, which takes place in three separate parts, you get to see a tale of deceit, doublecrossery and a whole lot of sexy times. The first being from Nam's perspective, shifting from a materialistic thieving little shite to falling in love; the second is exposition on Izumi's horrid backstory at the hands of her wretch of an uncle and her fvcked up life; and the final being the major plot twist, which'll ruin the experience if I just give it away. Despite the abundance of hentai-level stuff shown on screen (trust me, there's a lot), it was a surprisingly interesting story which definitely took me by surprise to say the least. So yeah, it was alright, do recommend if you enjoy romance stories with criminal elements....or if wanna watch the erotic stuff. But if you don't care about either, steer clear from here.
