Ranking the Demon's Souls Bosses #13

Our next boss...
Tower Knight

The Tower Knight is the corrupted form of Alfred, Knight of the Tower, who is another knight of the round table in Boletaria. Before the Scourge, he wielded the largest and heaviest shield in all of Boletaria, able stop any physical or magical blow. He now wields a much larger, soul form version of his signature tower shield. You can find Alfred later on as a phantom where you can obtain his heavy ass shield if you manage to kill him. Tower Knight is one big ass mother-fucker. The fight begins with one of the many Fat Ministers telling the soldiers around the castle to lock onto you and fire at will. The Tower Knight is also in the ring with you so you gotta be very mindful of him, because the dude hits like a truck. The first thing you want to do is take out all of the crossbow soldiers on top of the castle. Getting rained on by arrows is never fun and could mess you up severely. The Tower Knight will be shooting you with magical spears while you're taking out the soldiers. Most of them usually hit the wall, but when the angle is just right, you could be in for a world of hurt. After taking down the soldiers, it's time to face the 30-foot tall Knight. You being a small little man/woman seem to be at a disadvantage while taking this guy on. The Tower Knight may be slow, but he sure packs a punch. Especially his shield slam which sends out a small shockwave. A direct hit from the shield slam could send you right back to the Archstone. He also has a giant spear which he can stab you with from afar. The only way to attack this guy is just to hit his feet. At first, you'll do pretty pitiful damage. Give it some more time however, the feet will start to bleed out some blue mist. Hitting the feet enough time will cause them to burst, and when you get both feet to burst, the Tower Knight will collapse. Now's your chance to take him down. Aim for the head is what they say. Hitting his head does deal a higher amount of damage. If you have a blunt weapon, you can probably take the Knight down in one go. If you're like me and used a regular bastard sword, it might take longer than usual. If you don't kill him in time he'll get back up. Just burst his feet again and go for the head. Tower Knight should be good as dead after that... unless you use a wimpy sword like me.

Tower Knight is a pretty fun boss. He does a pretty good job at teaching you that brute force isn't always the way to go when you're fighting these larger enemies. The idea of hitting a giant in the legs to knock him down and whacking them in the head is very satisfying. They did use this concept again with the Iron Golem in DS1, but the Tower Knight doesn't stumble like an infant when you hit him in the leg with a feather. I'll place the Tower Knight above Fool's Idol.
