Ranking the Dark Souls 3 Bosses #25 (Finale)

Our last boss...
Pontiff Sulyvahn

Sulyvahn was born in the Painted World of Ariandel. Despite being born in the painting, he hasn't experienced loss or despair like other residents of the painting. Since he had no connection to the painting, he left it behind. He then found the Profaned Capital below Irithyll, took a Greatsword and set off to take over Irithyll. He also corrupted the Witches with the Profaned Flame which destroyed the Capital. He eventually took over with the help of his Pontiff Knights and his Outrider Knights who were sent to conquer faraway lands. Pontiff made sure the Outrider Knights wouldn't oppose him, so he gave them rings that would eventually drive them mad with visions of endless combat, just like Vordt and the Dancer. He became a devout follower of the Cathedral of the Deep founded by Aldrich, becoming one of the leaders. After Aldrich rose from his coffin again, he traveled to Anor Londo, where Sulyvahn imprisoned Gwyndolin who he would later feed to Aldrich. Sulyvahn is a pretty interesting boss. Most people call him the panic roll killer, I agree with this statement. Sulyvahn is a monster with his infinite stamina it seems. Sulyvahn can attack up to at least 8 times in one combo and holy shit, he does it a lot. Sometimes with different timing too. This pretty much gives you a very small window of attacking. I like to wait when he does a stabbing attack because he tends not to follow up with the stabbing attack. He might but it's only one swipe usually. I recommend get stamina recovery items before entering this fight like a Cloranthy Ring or Green Blossoms. The Grass Crest Shield that you find in the Crucifixion Woods can be useful too. His second phase is very similar to Darklurker from DS2 where Sulyvahn will spawn a clone of himself. This clone will attack before Sulyvahn and then the real Sulyvahn will follow up with the same attack. Kill the clone, he doesn't have much health. Sulyvahn has the same moves as he did before, but now he has magic and a hard hitting fire AOE he can perform. You can also parry Sulyvahn if you're capable of doing that... which i'm not... so that makes him a little more tolerable I guess.

Pontiff Sulyvahn is a huge spike in difficulty in terms of bosses. The boss before him was High Lord Wolnir and he was pretty easy. Don't be too upset if it takes a while to beat this guy, he's a fucking challenge. I'm going to rate Sulyvahn above Slave Knight Gael. At least with Gael, I have more space to fight him and he's not constantly on my ass 24/7. Well I'm finally done ranking the bosses. Time to do Dark Souls 2 bosses next... pray for me.
