So, I watched Land of the Dead
[MAJOR spoilers ahoy!]
In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the zombie apocalypse has been raging for some time now: this, however, has not stopped the surviving humans from making the city into a safe haven, which is sadly devided by a rich-poor caste system and treats zombies basically as entertainment, using them in violent games and crazy shite like that. A chosen few, among them Riley Denbo, his scarred friend Charlie Houk and money-hungry Cholo DeMora, are chosen to be errand boys who go out of town to gather supplies. While all's mostly fine and dandy, DeMora eventually plans to backstab his employers, while everybody's unsuspecting that a horde of zombies, led by one zombie called 'Big Daddy', are wisening up to using tools and guns, and are about to launch an attack on the city. And here we are, yet another installment of Romero's 'Living Dead' series, complete with the titular amazing zombie make up, gore and human naïveté that was pioneered with these films. I really enjoyed that they made the MCs make a moral decision by blowing up the people being eaten by the end (though I believe that was undermined moments later when the survivors came about) and the fact that DeMora got his revenge on Kaufman somewhat, even though both of them got blown up by Big Daddy in a pretty imaginative fashion (for a zombie). While not as blood-curdling and tense as previous installments, it still does its just well, albeit with a few scenes that didn't really make sense to me. All in all, it was enjoyable, do recommend. [and thanks to Wheeze-E for recommending it!]
