This apartment has gotten so empty
so much so that nothing remains for me.
These wooden floorboards bend and creek
as the wind says it's goodbyes
to this rotting place
and I tip toe around avoiding the seams
of a foundation that once promised a home.
Hoping that as I strain and writhe 
that the ache in my muscles will in time
prove to be of some worth
that if I dance around these faults
and keep this room the way it was
then the future will be just like the past.
