Left my job early today

Do ever have one of those moments where you feel like the only sane person on the planet

So I do my best to sweep the floors for the first hour, only to take twice to three times as long because customers and employees alike where actively ignoring the 6 foot rule, even doing so while the intercom is telling them to follow it! I don't even know how it's possible to be that ignorant! And while I can understand the customers not getting the message, the employees were trapping and cornering me too!

That's normal though, I'd gotten used to that. This was much, much worse

One of the two entrance doors had been locked off! And ALL of the customers were being funneled into the one remaining entrance door, where they'd be stopped to have their carts cleaned by two employees who would wait there all day, with no masks, get directly in the customers face, and clean their cart! Clusters of people were getting bottlenecked into the one door, idling there while breathing in each others faces, and overall making it straight up impossible to enter and exit the store without being within 6 feet of people

I asked them why the other door was closed and why they where bottle-necking people at a time when we need to be as far apart as possible, and they sent me to the manager. I asked him, and after I explained that it traveled through the air first and on surfaces second, and that having clusters of people and regularly exposed employees blocking the entrance to the store was far, far more dangerous then the carts ever could be (it's like fighting fire with bombs, so much worse), he just told me that that was what cooperate wanted. So I just clocked out and left

I wasn't trying to follow the rules for my sake; I don't care if I get sick, I want to stay home anyways. I was doing it entirely to protect the other customers and employees. But it's become clear that not only have my efforts to protect everyone gone unnoticed, but no one even cares. That hurts

So I'm at home now, very stressed and confused. The fact that I seem to know better then the many higher ups who made this decision baffles me; it took me ages just to learn to shower regularly, how could entire team of people dedicated to keeping their customers safe mess this up?
